pray to the porcelain / turn on the taps for sound
reflections of a face / a cool breeze from a tainted lake
this body – mine to break
l5 and circling all that i should have been
no power left to take if there’s nothing left in the tank
exhaust myself until holes appear in the surface layer
they’ve asked us to disappear
shrink-wrapped pre-determined worth
give us this daily dose of dread / keep getting mislead
l5 and trading in records and magazines
for methamphetamines / all unrealistic dreams
this body mine to make
pulpit awakening / this isn’t who i am
i’ll stack my plates instead / strengthen what’s inside my head
this body isn’t a thing to throw away
not yours to shape – we won’t be swayed
don’t ask us to disappear
break shrink-wrapped plastic fears
self-acceptance will spread / no longer mislead
I learned about The Rebel Spell from the Propagandhi cover of “I am a Rifle”. That might have been why I checked them out, but I kept listening because of songs like “They Know!” . Joshua Hall
Everything this band did is gold. It's a huge credit to them that this excellent political punk record is only maybe their 4th best. I still love it, but The Rebel Spell have a pretty flawless, top-notch discography. Hayduke X
